[She huffs a soft laugh.]

As well as can be expected, I guess.

[She's fed and clothed, with access to better shelter than she might have expected. And while she can't say she's used to them yet, her wings are no longer painful and they don't make her feel as clumsy as they had upon arrival. In her mind, though, she's still got a long way to go.]

[She doesn't let this show on her face though, tossing an arch look up at him as a faint teasing note enters her voice.]

Some of my neighbors seem a little questionable, but other than that...

Questionable, hmm? And just what makes them so questionable?

[ That teasing note isn't missed by Kakashi at all, and he returns with just the same kind of lilt in his tone and a cant of the chin as he directs a slightly amused look Yoruichi's way. Even if they're here for more... official business, doesn't hurt to have a bit of casual, easy banter, right? ]

Mm...just a general shady air, I'd say. I'm sure you know the type.

{Yoruichi is serious enough when the situation calls for it, but for something like this? No reason they can't have a little fun and still do what they came here for. She'd never been the type to insist you needed a stick up your ass in order to get things done.]

I should feel insulted, Yoruichi-san~

[ Kakashi drawls just a bit, his expression completely impassive. Deadpan, even. ]

I'd like to think of myself as "mysterious," not "shady."

[ Yeah, he's just messing with her now, but she has the kind of personality that seems to allow that kind of thing. ]

[She makes a thoughtful noise, a faux-pensive expression on her face.]

Ahh, but only a shady person would call themselves mysterious. Mysterious people don't bother to define themselves--they just smile vaguely and go about their business.

Hmm, is that so.

[ Said lightly as he quirks a brow. ]

[Gives him a smile that's almost vague--but doesn't quite make it due to the sharp, wicked humor about the edges.]

I believe it is.

[Her smile widens a bit]

Shall we be about our business, then?

[Yoruichi, international woman of mystery]

[according to the rules she just made up]

[ Kakashi's eye curves into a perfect arc and he opens a hand towards the field just past Yoruichi. ]

Ladies first.

[She snickers and turns away, heading for the field with a loose, casual stride. Her eyes scan the area out of long habit, noting the way the field backs onto the woods.]

[Good; she hadn't planned on doing any damage, but if she has to demonstrate some of her more destructive techniques, it's good to know she has some room to work with.]

So where were we?

I believe you were about to provide me with a demonstration.

[ Kakashi follows Yoruichi to the field, but stops a small distance away at the edge of where the training fields begin. It's rather flat land, flanked by trees, with just a few practice dummies set up at the moment. Nothing spectacular. ]

[Yoruichi purses her lips--what to show him first?]

So I was.

[As talented as she is in other areas, there's one place the Goddess of Flash is likely to be unmatched.]

[A small smile tugs at her lips.]

How about you try and catch me?

[ There's a slight hint of mirth dancing in a single grey unexposed iris as Kakashi lightly raises an eyebrow, canting his chin. ]

Are you proposing a game of tag, Yoruichi-san?

[Her grin gows wider, and she idly lifts one foot to scratch the back of her other calf.]

[Between one heartbeat and the next, she's about one hundred feet away, with only a small puff of dust to mark where she'd been standing.]

I guess I am.

[She raises her voice to be heard across the sudden distance, never losing that playful note.]

[ Okay, he definitely was not expecting that.

In fact, he had barely even noticed how fast she'd moved. One moment she was right in front of him, and the next. How the fuck did she move so fast. There wasn't even a blur of motion, as far as he could tell.

Slowly, Kakashi's hand goes to his hitai-ate, and he raises it up to reveal his Sharingan. ]

Nice trick.

[ Kakashi calls back. He knows that if that's how fast she normally moves, there's no way he'll be able to catch her. But maybe he might be able to capture how she moves. Predict her movements. Even if physically he doesn't think he can keep up with her -- not without significant training, anyway -- he can at least give it a shot.

He takes his time wandering onto the field, but doesn't make any attempt to try and catch her. Instead, he just more or less stands there, waiting for her next move. ]

[Yoruichi watches as he pulls his headband up, showing his other eye for the first time since she'd met him. She'd been curious, but not unduly so-the Onmitskidou regularly kept their faces concealed, after all. Still, she'd wondered if he'd lost the other eye, keeping it covered in lieu of an eyepatch.]

[But no--he clearly has both eyes, even if she can't see any details from this distance. Her lips quirk as he saunters towards her, seemingly in no hurry to come after her.]

[Once again, she gathers reiatsu to her feet and steps, moving a little further this time. She's invisible to the normal eye as she passes Kakashi, reappearing about 20 feet behind him.]

You know, in tag, both people are generally moving.

[ This time when she moved, Kakashi was able to track it. It's very similar to shunshin, but faster -- the distances that are moved are different, as well as the method, as there was a discernible streak of motion that Kakashi was able to track with Sharingan, but physically knows he wouldn't be able to keep up with.

Though he's copied the technique, physically, his body isn't capable of the speed she's moving without more knowledge -- and without risking severe injury.

So instead, he lightly shrugs. ]

Saa, is that so. I guess I don't like rules very much, Yoruichi-san~

[ Said lightly as he glances at her over his shoulder while he molds chakra.

And suddenly, he's gone. No sign of him anywhere to be found. He's masking his chakra expertly, but someone who is incredibly good at sensing should be able to discern that he's still there.

The question, though, is where. ]

Hoooh.

[She's surprised, but not dismayed by his seeming disappearance--she can tell he's still there, after all, but it's rather more difficult to pinpoint his reiatsu now.]

[But she's not worried. Yoruichi may have left the Onmitskidou, but her skills have hardly degraded to uselessness. One foot sweeps out, digging a furrow in a half-arc, and loosening dirt around her. She extends one hand, hopping back a pace.]

Hadou no 58--Tenran.

[It's a mid-level spell, but she uses just a whisper of power, turning what could be a powerful cyclone of air into something less destructive. The swirling air hits the dirt she'd just loosened, sending it out in a widening spiral.]

[Will the dirt bounce off an unseen form,betraying Kakashi's position? Or has he moved somewhere out of its range?]

[ The swirling air only picks up leaves in the wind -- and for a moment, everything is silent and still. But it's at that very second that the earth right before Yoruichi's feet break up and Kakashi comes punching out of the ground, reaching for her. His fingertips are so close to brushing her, he can feel the warmth emanating off her body. ]

[Yoruichi jumps back just in time, catching the brief spike in his reiatsu just before he breaks through the ground. A low laugh escapes her; it's not hard to appreciate skill and technique, and it's a pleasure to test both against someone new.]

[Given her mastery of it, shunpo backwards is easy, especially a short distance like this. Instead of landing on the ground once more, though, she collects reishi beneath her feet, skidding to a stop on air several yards from where she'd been.]

[ Earth crumbles off Kakashi as he lands, eye tracking Yoruichi the short distance she'd retreated. With her speed, it'd be very difficult to actually catch her without using extensive jutsu or traps, some of which could be potentially fatal or cause serious injury, which Kakashi isn't particularly interested in trying out, unless it's in the Battle Dome.

Yoruichi not only is fast, but it appears she can fly -- after all, she's just hanging out in the air and that's not something the average person can do. There aren't many others who can move like her, but Vegeta certainly comes to mind as one of the few who can. ]

What do you call that technique?

Shunpo.

[From this distance, she can see that the eye Kakashi normally keeps covered has a scar through it. It's harder to see any detail, but she's almost positive it's a different color than the other one.]

[Interesting.]

Unless you mean this? [She drops to the ground, her stance casual, but balanced to move in any direction.] It's just collecting particles in the air; it doesn't really have a name. How about yours?

[ Kakashi eyes the way Yoruichi moves a bit curiously -- simply collecting particles in the air and allowing it to gain enough density that one can fly is certainly not an easy technique. But then, neither is shunpo, which is something he'd very much like to learn more about. ]

The technique itself is called "Doton Moguragakure no Jutsu", and it's considered an elemental ninjutsu that involves manipulating the earth with chakra, which is the combination of spiritual and physical energy.

[ He nods in her general direction. ]

How does shunpo work?

[If asked, she'd tell Kakashi that it certainly takes a fair amount of practice--it's easy to get distracted in a fight and lose your footing without sufficient focus.]

[His explanation is fascinating, though--manipulating one's own reiryoku is one thing, but to manipulate the earth as well? His use of 'elemental' implies that earth isn't the only substance he can affect. If so, his techniques sound immensely useful.]

You're basically trying to go as far as possible while using as few steps as possible. You gather spiritual energy at your feet to [she pauses] propel you, for lack of a better term.

And can anyone learn how to use this technique?

[ He's not even going to try and pretend like he isn't interested in learning. ]
