[ Earth crumbles off Kakashi as he lands, eye tracking Yoruichi the short distance she'd retreated. With her speed, it'd be very difficult to actually catch her without using extensive jutsu or traps, some of which could be potentially fatal or cause serious injury, which Kakashi isn't particularly interested in trying out, unless it's in the Battle Dome.

Yoruichi not only is fast, but it appears she can fly -- after all, she's just hanging out in the air and that's not something the average person can do. There aren't many others who can move like her, but Vegeta certainly comes to mind as one of the few who can. ]

What do you call that technique?

[ When Ginia had disappeared without any warning, Kakashi had more or less assumed the Malnosso had gotten her. Her name hadn't disappeared from the journal list or anything, which meant she hadn't been sent home. So, that could only mean she was on a mission or in an experiment or something along those lines. And a look over her apartment only confirmed that when he'd broken in to check on her.

She certainly had put up quite the struggle (which Kakashi was surprised no one heard, and that he himself hadn't sensed) and it showed in the general state of her apartment.

He could only hope that the Malnosso wouldn't keep her for too long, and that she would return safely and in one piece.

He glances down at her message, a little surprised that she'd chosen to reach out via the journal instead of in person when he's only a flight of stairs above her. ]

Did you just get back?

This morning.

[Even if he was only a flight of stairs away (or a balcony climb up when she was feeling more daring), talking over the journal was easier. She could take as long as she wanted to write, she didn't have to deal with anyone directly.]

What have I missed?

[Short clipped sentences, her handwriting a little less neat than usual. While she didn't cover the camera, she didn't look at it either, her face tilted away, eyes averted.]

Shunpo.

[From this distance, she can see that the eye Kakashi normally keeps covered has a scar through it. It's harder to see any detail, but she's almost positive it's a different color than the other one.]

[Interesting.]

Unless you mean this? [She drops to the ground, her stance casual, but balanced to move in any direction.] It's just collecting particles in the air; it doesn't really have a name. How about yours?

[Naruto just SIGHS and rolls his eyes, the way a teenager would when an adult is TECHNICALLY RIGHT but URGH.]

You still didn't have to lie like that. I'm gonna tell my Dad you did it!

[ Judging by the tiny snapshot of her, and the slightly jagged edges of her handwriting, Ginia must not have had an easy time with the Malnosso. But then, Kakashi has a hard time seeing how anyone would. ]

To be honest with you, not much.

[ Kakashi eyes the way Yoruichi moves a bit curiously -- simply collecting particles in the air and allowing it to gain enough density that one can fly is certainly not an easy technique. But then, neither is shunpo, which is something he'd very much like to learn more about. ]

The technique itself is called "Doton Moguragakure no Jutsu", and it's considered an elemental ninjutsu that involves manipulating the earth with chakra, which is the combination of spiritual and physical energy.

[ He nods in her general direction. ]

How does shunpo work?

[It a story she's heard from everyone else she's spoken too. A quiet, peaceful month with not much to talk about. The kind of time that makes it easy to forget people get kidnapped.

Hell, she did, even with a warning ever present at the back of her mind.]

[If asked, she'd tell Kakashi that it certainly takes a fair amount of practice--it's easy to get distracted in a fight and lose your footing without sufficient focus.]

[His explanation is fascinating, though--manipulating one's own reiryoku is one thing, but to manipulate the earth as well? His use of 'elemental' implies that earth isn't the only substance he can affect. If so, his techniques sound immensely useful.]

You're basically trying to go as far as possible while using as few steps as possible. You gather spiritual energy at your feet to [she pauses] propel you, for lack of a better term.

Go right ahead, Naruto. What do you think he's going to say when you tell him you asked me what was on the exam, hmm?

And can anyone learn how to use this technique?

[ He's not even going to try and pretend like he isn't interested in learning. ]

[Ginia closes her journal. She spends a few more minutes petting Laika, before sliding off the bed and whistling for her to follow. Laika is always welcome company up in Kakashi's apartment and after being away from her dog for a week, Ginia isn't eager to leave her alone again.

It's perhaps telling Ginia, punctual as she is, takes a bit longer to arrive at Kakashi's apartment. She fusses around the apartment a little more, tidying up, rearranging, looking for any more pieces of broken glass or wood. When she finally leaves, she takes her time going up the stairs and stops in front of his door.

She's gone to his apartment several times for a distraction at night and the occasional afternoon. Times her mind was too full and she needed something to distract her or tire her out. Sex is an appealing distraction right now, but Ginia isn't sure that's what she wants either.

Right now she's not sure what she wants anymore.

Even if the door is unlocked, she knocks before entering, Laika also heralding their arrival with a friendly bark.]

[She pauses, her eyes scanning him a moment--not unfriendly, but assessing. When she finally speaks, it's deliberate, and rather more sober than she's been with him before.]

You might be able to learn, if you can control your energy well enough. But human bodies aren't meant to travel at those speeds--if you overdo it, you could shatter your own bones.

[And she'd just as soon not be responsible for that happening to him.]

[ That's more or less what he assumed. It is, however, a risk he is more than willing to take. Even though he knows he'll never be a fraction of the shunpo user Yoruichi is, he can see how it'd be immensely useful in battle. ]

I'd be interesting in learning, and would be happy to teach you what I can, if you are interested in any ninja techniques.

[A wry, almost exasperated smile touches her lips, and she blows out an amused huff. She can't say she's surprised by his answer, but she still intends to keep a close eye on him as they train. Shinigami bodies can take much more punishment than a human's, after all.]

Don't say I didn't warn you. So tell me, if that was an earth technique, are there other kinds?

Plenty. [ Kakashi nods. ]

Ninja techniques most people can learn are comprised of three different types -- taijutsu, or hand-to-hand combat; genjutsu, which creates illusions; and ninjutsu, which is a broad term for any sort of technique that involves molding chakra and using hand seals to activate the jutsu.

Within ninjutsu include elemental jutsu, which allows you to manipulate earth, water, wind, fire, and lightning.

[Yoruichi listens, folding her arms across her chest in unconscious habit.]

To be honest, I'm more interested in breaking illusions than casting them.

[It's too late to do anything about Aizen, but if she can help it, she'll never be caught at the mercy of someone's illusions again.]

Kidou uses your own reiryoku, but it doesn't use elements the way you just did. I wouldn't mind learning more about that.

"Kidou"? "Reiryoku?"

[ Kakashi starts to close the distance between them since he'd really rather not have a conversation some twenty feet apart. ]

That could be very useful. Is it very taxing?

What, thought-speak? Nah. Morphing can be, depending on the animal.

So, you're saying it doesn't tax you at all to use thought-speak on a very large group of individuals?

Does it hurt your brain when you are thinking your thoughts?
